This novel made me feel really sad for the child when the book mentioned Dave not wanting to let go of the nurse's warm hugs. I felt his pain that he just wanted to be loved and accepted as a person that existed just like anyone of us. Imagining the story as such a young age came to play when I thought about my son being the same age at one point. Reality hit me that child abuse is happening under our noses and not knowing about it. The question will always linger in our heads forever.. When will child abuse ever stop?!
