March 25, 2012 Chapter 7

I am heartfelt of the pain and humiliation that David had to endure, if only someone really get themselves on involvle ealier through his ordeal of abuse.  I can't imagine the teachers not even caring of the way he looked or even the day he started taking food.  Can't they see the starvation in David?  It shows how observent they are of child abuse or they cared less about the subject.  Only the few I guess and on chapter 7 three brave staff stopped his ordeal.  Yes, he's free

March 24, 2012 5-6

I applaud David's will to live upon all of his ordeal, I like the fact that he allowed his imagination of super hero's to be real to stay alive.   He is a great survivor other wise he would have been dead already, for a kid so young he is the bravest.  I like his bravery when he treated himself when his mom slashed him with the knife.  Deep down he knows his dad loved him.  He just has mixed emotions.  Actually, he endured all the unbearable pain, now that's bravery!

March 23, 1012 Chapters 3-4

This was the start of the abuse, going from discipline to punishments. The difference between these two;  discipline is to train, punish is to inflict.  The relationship between mother and son is distant now,  they're no longer close as if his mom went from the good witch....bad witch.    No doubt about it because, David is first born and close to dad, the treatment becomes worst ever time dad leaves home for work.  That's the frightening thoughts that David has to face all the time when his leave for work.

Today in class we were preparing for the work shop that's gonna be happening on April 12 and I was done writing out my speech and my poem, I was a little nervous when I gave it to Mrs.Q to check if I did it the right way and my speech was good every thing turn out good, but my poem needs to be a little bit longer and I have spring break to finish it. advice ladies use the steps on how to give a speech the one that Mrs.Q has taught us. that's all I did was follow the steps and everything turned out ok. good luck on everything ladies and enjoy your spring break and see you all on April 9.   :)

well i finished my poem but today Mrs Q said to make it 30 lines long.i hope i can delivery to finished product. Ops this was for today but here my blog for yesterday. I finished my speech and my poem yesterday before i went to school i had it proof read by Mr, D and he thought it was good.

March 22, 2012 Chapters 1-2

Well, as you know we had passed "The Lost Boy" from one reader to the next.

However, my analysis is that there is always a reason for down fall, but it doesn't mean for a mother to treat her sibling the way this mother had done.  Because David is close to his dad and that she has resentsments from her husband this is the begining of that downfall for David.  She does need help though.  Oops next time.

3/28/2012 April Salas - "A Man Named Dave" The beginning

It's back to the beginning for me! It briefs through everything in the beginning. But there is something that caught my curiousity, where Dave's mother mentioned "You don't know what I've been through, I've been through worse. When she was consoling in Dave, Dave felt a need to comfort her but he knew that if he was to do anything else but to remain straight he would get hit.

Dave and Patsy divorced and of course they both had custody of Stephen. Although it's hard for Dave to be away from Stephen he kept him busy til the next time he would be with his son again. I know how it feels because I haven't been with my oldest son for a couple of years now but although I know he's doing fine with his father I'm good. We talk on the phone and sometimes communicate through Facebook too. It's really hard being away from your kids, so I know how Dave felt.

3/24/2012 April Salas The lost boy, ending of the book!!

Oh I enjoy reading this book to the end!
Dave getting his Ged joining the airforce, from what he came from to finding love within other homes. Im surprised this kid made it that far in life. While not many of us have that kind of chance! Sad to hear about what kind of life the dad lived now. But Thanks to Dave's Angel he is now truly happy with himself and the people who helped him!!

Getting his bike back from his mother, pshh what a total kiss up. Trying to put on a show for everyone, but behind their backs shes such an evil knievel..lol.. I'm surprised Dave fixed up his bike, feeling the freedom of the wind and freedom of being a kid again. Wow truly happy for the kid. I bet He liked his new found freedom!

I can feel the pain of just reading the combinations of bruising's on Dave's body.
Now it starts Dave's lying, I guess by now Dave doesn't know any better. Even though people are teaching him and trying to take care of him. In his mind he's already lost. Doesn't know the Good or Bad situation.
Trying to convince his mother he's going to be a good boy makes me mad.After everything she's dones!

Now that Lent is coming What are you giving up?  I remembered Mrs. Q suggested acorstic for one of our strageties,  but I have one for the word lent. "We have nothing to fear but fear itself"  this quote is from President Roosevelt.  I love the quotes from the bible as well, "If God is for us, who can be against us?"  Confronting our enemies can be intimidating but we must do what we must do.  Beacause God says Vengenance is his, to we have that comfort that God will never leave or forsake us.  God's protection is always there no matter the situation even in worst situation.  God takes care of us.  Oops next time readers.

We talked about the Adult High Conference/Fair! It will showcase our works in our classes. For this class, I will be handling the San Diego Reading Assessment while others have their positions. I will also have my work from my other classes showcased there. There is a 2 day event so I hope all goes as planned. I hope our Reading Workshop class stands out since we are a class of all beautiful women. :)

Today in class we talked about what we will be presenting at the workshop on April  12,  this is all so new to me and it sounds like fun! I am just so super excited and a little nervous knowing that I will be reading my poem and saying a speech, but oh well! it's now or never and you only live once so what the heck why not try to live outside my comfort zone.

March 27,2012 Workshop Discussion

Well, we discussed about the workshop and what our projects going be like.  Could not believe doing a workshop is a lot of planning but I am so exciting.  Can't wait until Thursday we are going to learn about writing poetry using our reaction paper.

The book I am currently reading is Free Falling By: Debra Webb. So I will tell you more next blog. But am enjoying my book so far.  Its about romance between 2 young teenagers. I love it. It reminds me a lot of how love is always the answer.

March 26 chapter 3-7

  reading this book it made me mad, cry, made me feel sick to my stomach and wonder why and could you as a mother?  I  recommend this book as  a  must  read. it's  not  just a  story it's an inspirational book for those who sit in self pity from child abuse and child neglect and for those who feel like they can't make it,  just when you think that you had it bad  there is someone out there who having harder then you are and making the most and the best of his/her life.

Poor David he's was so nerves when a girl from his work said hello to him and he froze,as she passed him he smelled her perfume.David really needs to work on his self esteem.i know high school can be a little scary.i now i was,like this semester i felt like i was 16 again.

During my previous blog, I mentioned how Dave found Patsy, they got married and Patsy gave birth to Stephen. They whole time Dave and Patsy have been together, he didn't and couldn't trust her. When he's overseas, she would open a credit card under his name. She would claim she works but days before his return home she would so-call say she resigned. Lies! Lies! Dave felt Patsy was only around for the money or well from the way I read it, it did seem that she was. When Dave got out of the Air Force and just did other thinks like do speeches, help people, work part-time at a juvenile hall, work at a restaurant or clean yars...he didn't make much compared to when he was in the Air Force, Patsy blew up and started complaining about money. Patsy said so many hurtful words to Dave...until it both drove them to file for divorce. Patsy is one money hunger person.

While Dave was studying outside at the pool, he met Patsy. Things between Patsy and him happened so fast. Dave didn't trust her and never said the I love you word but when he was overseas, he would find hisself longing for her. Both their lives were the same when they were young, both in a physical abusive childhood. Many times, Dave tried to break up with Patsy but would find it hard to actually leave her behind. Patsy ended up pregnant, they got married and during the wedding was when Dave said I love you for the first time.

Love comes and goes! There are times when someone will eventually learn to love someone the longer they end up together.

Dave's time in the military was soon coming to an end. The military kept messing up with his paper works, which was not any of Dave's fault. A sergent told him, he can extend his contract and if he doesn't get the job he wants which is a in-flight boom operator then he can get out of the military. Luckily, all Dave's hard work in studying, not going out, not having a social life all paid off. He re-enlisted.

 

I like how Dave studied so hard and put his social life aside just so he can be what he really wanted to be. When I started becoming a mother, for 15 years I put my social life aside and prioritized my children not even realizing that education was gonna be important. Now, that I'm back to school, straining my brain at the same time taking care of my kids...I will strive to succeed. I will prove everyone wrong.

David had lied about his age so that he can work in a restaurant he was so worried about eating and that was one of the thing he did not want to go through again.i'm just glad that he was able to pull his life together and so off move on.

David has looked back when he first met dan and he was living with the welshes,he tells how dan had changed his life and that's how he met paul too. til this day david and paul are still in touch til this day.

Dave enlisted to the airforce and although he didn't get the position he wanted, he still made the best of it. While serving for his country, he receives a tragic phone call stating that his father is in the hospital. He takes leave and goes to the hospital to visit his father who is close to dying from cancer. Steve a nurse, told Dave that his father has been in the hospital for already 4 months. Ron (Dave's brother) who is also in the military came to visit his father 2 or 3 months ago. Within the whole time his father was in the hospital, his only visitors were Ron, Dave and Alice (Dave's foster mother). Dave tried to reach out to his mother to visit her husband/her kids father but the evil bitch still has so much hatred inside of her. Dave's mother also phones her mother to make up lies that Dave threatened, distroyed and did all these crap to her mother while trying to reach out to her, which of course is not true.

After so many years have passed, it's so weird how Dave's mother still has so much hatred to the whole world. Her husband, whom she claimed she loved is dying yet she couldn't even pay him a visit at the hospital but was so eager for the documents Dave had. She is so self-centered! So selfish! So evil! I'm curious to know if in any of Dave's book does he talk about his mother dying or any of her suffering...karma!

On this chapter he looks back when he was in high school.it was kinda hard for him to talk to people especially the girl,but he was more interested in people accepting him.it just he feels like people judge him and it made him kinda feel dorky.so he withdraws into himself and just drowns himself in his work.

I finished The Hunger Games. Finally. It was a great book. I recommend everyone read it honestly. If we all want to start a book club I would love to. I will be President lol. But The Hunger Games is simply a beautiful book. So does anyone have the 2nd book to the Trilogy????

March 22 Chapters 1-3

The child called it, I felt really sad for Dived  my eyes started to get watery in class. Stupid woman made me so mad I just want to SMACK her, then grab her and slam her face to the mirror and freaken  kick her and ask her if she freaken likes it!!?  what a nightmare that poor boy had to go through. but I wonder is his mother just crazy or what because I can't understand how a mother can do such a thing to her child and why???

Dave's school nurse have been monitoring and taking notes of him for the past years. One day Dave had to run to school and as soon as he got to school, he had a difficult time breathing. So he went to the nurses office. The nurse noticed that he had a mark on his neck. The side of his Adam's apple is so swollen. HIs epiglottis was swollen and his trachea was inflammed. The nurse wanted to report it to the police but Dave begged her not too.

It was Dave's moment to be free from the hands of his abusive mother, so why didn't he take that chance? Why didn't he allow the nurse to report it? His mother nearly killed him again and he was just letting it go again.

The day of the Spring Festival "Tour of the Pacific". In class we talked about each others novels. Everyone seemed to be so curious about the novel, A Child Called "It" and now most of our classmates are reading it. We bonded as a class and it was fun!

The story did a briefing of the first book, but I did manage to get to where the police man advises Dave's mother that he won't be coming home. I would like to know what the mother has said on the other side of that line. I felt happy to hear that he was not going home and he was on his new journey away form that abusive mother of his. I guess he's on his way to find a new family that will not only love him but treat him with respect. Thanks for lending me the book Leslie :)

Well david has his own radio show and he been all over the states doing fun rising and racing awerness  on child abuse.her son tired and he really missing his son stephen.His fiancee marsha called to tell him that dan had pass and david was really upset.

Sitting down talking about our experiences with eachother's novel made me realize we all have some sort of the same reaction for "A child called it"...ugh I'm finished with the book and now I can't wait for Leslie to bring in "The lost boy". I wonder if it'll make me cry this time. I can't wait to start on it already!! Poor Dave, poor little boy!!

MARCH 18, 2012 ( SUNDAY)

At this point, Lennie knew he did another bad thing like he done in Weed. Lennie tried his hardest to remember what George told him about hiding in the brush and George will come for him. Curley's crew headed out in search of Lennie, so they could kill him. Instead, George recited Lennie's favorite story about the rabbits and how they have each other as good friends til the end. George pointed in the other direction trying to distract Lennie and shot his best friend on the back of his head.

MARCH 17, 2012 (SATURDAY)

Lennie was inside the barn playing with a puppy, but he ended up killing it. He was sad, all he could think about are the rabbits and now, George won't let him tend the rabbits cause he killed the little puppy. Curley's wife came in the barn looking for someone to talk too. She told Lennie to touch her hair and stroke it. Lennie loved petting soft things and he couldn't let go of Curley's wifes hair. She struggled to get out of Lennie's grip and started yelling. It confused Lennie and got him all scared. He covered her mouth, without knowing his own strength, Lennie broke Curley's wifes neck and she flopped down like a dead fish.

MARCH 16, 2012 (FRIDAY)

Lennie was smiling in the corner and Curley saw an opportunity to pick on him. Curley got angry and punched Lennie on the nose and made it bleed. Lennie still didn't do anything to fight back. Finally, George had enough of Curley's picking on his best friend Lennie and gave him the words that he could fight back and defend himself to Curley's cruelty. Just when Curley was about to throw another big punch, Lennie got a hold of Curley's hand and broke it just by holding onto his hand. George tells Curley not to tell nobody of what had happened and says to make up a  lie saying his hand got caught in one of the machines. Curley having the biggest ego, he did just that.

MARCH 15, 2012 (THURSDAY)

George warns Lennie to stay as far away from Curley's wife because she's gonna do nothing but give them trouble. Lennie trys to convince George to get out of that place. He feels that the whole place and the people surrounding it was mean and evil. Candy's old dog had no teeth, was limping, and had a really bad, aweful smell. Two of Curley's crew memebers talked about putting Candy's dog out of its misery and that's just what had happened. Took the dog outside and shot it to death. Candy was so sad and devastated for the only best friend he ever had since the dog was a little puppy.

MARCH 14, 2012 (WEDNESDAY)

Lennie always forgets everything that George tells him but one story that Lennie never ever forgets is the story about the rabbits. With enough money saved, they had a dream of having an acre of land with chickens, pigs, and rabbits. And how they have each other as companions. George tells Lennie not to talk and say anything to the big boss that would jeopardize them both of not getting the job. The big boss might think Lennie is a crazy fool. George gave Lennie directions to hide in the brush in case he gets into trouble like what had happened in Weed.

MARCH 13, 2012 (TUESDAY)

Lennie is like a giant soft teddy bear. He loves to pet soft things and is a little bit on the slow side. He's not dumb at all but just a little slow in his way of thinking. Lennie got into trouble because he was tugging on a lady's dress and she was yelling her heart out saying, rape. All Lennie wanted to do was to touch her smooth dress and no bad point intended. George knows that he doesn't do bad things on purpose. Lennie just loves to pet things that are really soft to the touch. While they were both walking by the river, Lennie found a dead mouse and had put it in his pocket. Finding out, George told Lennie to fork it over and give it to him and George threw the mouse far into the brush.

MARCH 12, 2012 (MONDAY)

Opposite of each other, George being small, slender arms, thin and bony nosy. Lennie a huge man, pale eyes with wide sloping shoulders; he walked heavily, dragging his feet. They both headed to the Salinas Valley of California to start a new life. Lennie did something and got chased out of Weed. George has the tendency to pull Lennie out of trouble at all times. Being best friends they looked out for each other and took care of one another no matter what happened.

Today in class was fun we got to share what we all reading and are thoughts on are stories. I can't wait to read  the child called it, I really want to know what is it that everyone is talking about? but the funny part was when one of my classmate really shared how she felt when she read a book hehehe.. and we got to take some pictures in class and had some great laughs and here we are hold the books that we are currently reading and talking about.

This is another part of david's life where he became a teen to a man he travel from state to state.he been on the road for about 21 days and he was happy when he open his home,he couldn't wait to see his fiancee's face. David's son is 17 yrs old and he playing baseball a cross the country.

Our discussion was so facinating our reading class is one big family, we shared about one particular book which has been passed down to eachother that we all got so emotional and such heartfelt about David having so much abuse by his mother.  The stories has touch my heart and mind how can a mother be so evil and feel so much hatred to her a child whom she gave birth to!  Eventually she didn't see her child as a human being but an animal.  Like my mother always told me God is looking down and sees everything, no worries fellow readers" vengance is his says the Lord!"
