Little David had suffered extensively, his mother had beaten ,staved and stabbed, him and as far as i read on she choked tried to drown the poor kid but she promised to kill him if any thing.she told him she wished he was dead how messed up is that. i'm just relieved that someone had the courage to save him and he's turned out to be a great person and has a wonderful connection with his son.
